I started Ascension Design in 2001 and over the last 13 years or so (depending on when you’re reading this) the business has gone through many changes. I have been an expert consultant for the Department for Education and Skills (as was), a design consultant for Abbey National and even met John Craven at a project launch – and it doesn’t get any better than that!

At one point Ascension Design was employing five people and working out of a large(ish) office but now it’s just me again, working from home. And I love it.

Now, I develop a wide range of Internet applications for clients using a fairly standard Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP setup. Mostly my clients are SMEs based in, or around Sheffield. Most of my core clients I’ve worked with for more than 10 years.

I’m incredibly fortunate to do a job that I love. Okay so there are days when I’d rather play video games or chop up wood and drink whiskey but on the whole, I love what I do. I could never stay away for long!
